JUDICIAL POLL of December 31, 2011

The results of the 2011 Judicial Poll have been compiled.  In the left-hand column of this page, click on "Judicial Poll of December 31, 2011" and you will be able to view the results.

          PART 1 contains Judges of the U.S. District Court, Eastern Division; the U.S. Bankruptcy Court; Social Security Administration; and the Tennessee Court of Appeals, Eastern Section.

          PART 2 contains Judges of the Chancery Court; Circuit Court; Criminal Court; Juvenile Court; and General Sessions Court.

          PART 3 contains Judges of the Cities of Chattanooga, Lookout Mountain, Red Bank, Soddy Daisy, East Ridge, Signal Mountain, Lakesite, Walden and Collegedale. 

Upon Bylaw Amendment in 2009, the frequency of the Biennial Judicial Poll was changed from 'every odd-numbered year' to every four (4) years thereafter. The next Judicial Poll will be held in 2011.



BIENNIAL JUDICIAL POLL of December 31, 2007


In accordance with Article XIV, Section 1(f)  of the BYLAWS of the Chattanooga Bar Association,  The Board of Governors shall conduct a referendum in November, 1983 and in November of every odd-numbered year thereafter as to the judicial competence of all incumbent judges of the City of Chattanooga and Hamilton County, and of the State of Tennessee sitting in Chattanooga, and of the United States sitting in Chattanooga.  The judicial competency of each judge shall be determined on the basis of good moral character, legal ability, diligence, and judicial temperament, and such other factors as the Board of Governors may determine.  The biennial referendum shall be conducted in accordance with the provisions of Article X of these bylaws, shall list the judges in alphabetical order.  The results of the poll shall be circulated to the judiciary, shall be announced immediately thereafter by the President to the news media, and shall be entered by the Secretary in the minutes.
